Flying Through the Rainforest

Today was a very physical day. We started by crossing the river on the hanging bridge - it's actually easier in the daylight. We climbed through the rainforest and got muddy and sweaty and saw lots of lizards, leaf-cutter ants, beautiful plants and flowers, and a Calligo butterfly - the largest butterfly in Costa Rica:

Then after lunch, we did the zip line. We almost talked ourselves out of it, but a 64 year old lady decided to try it, so we couldn't back down. It was GREAT!
16 cables through the canopy of the rainforest
5 km total distance
80 meters (about 260 feet) elevation change

It took about 3 or 4 cables before we relaxed, but then we turned, bounced, no hands, no brakes. We're hooked. We'd do it again. I loved flying over the river! Someone took a video of Faron coming in at the end. We'll get it from them and post later. But here we are taking off on the first one. Notice the grip. I have blisters.
